Liar

You think you're gonna live your life alone in darkness, in succlusion? Yeah I know, you've been out there tried to mix with those animals and it just left you full of humiliated confusion. So you stagger back home and wait for nothing. But the solitary refindment of your room spits you back out onto the street and now you're desperate and in need of human contact. And then you meet me...

And you're whole world changes because everything I say is everything you've wanted to hear. So you drop your defenses and you drop all your fears and you trust me completely. I'm perfect in everyway cause I make you feel so strong and so powerful inside. You feel so lucky but your Ego obscures reality and you never bother to wonder why you think things are going so well. You wanna know why?!

Cause I'm a Liar!
I'll tear your mind out!
I'll burn your soul!
I'll turn you into me!
Cause I'm a Liar!
A Liar!

I'll hide behind a smile and understanding eyes. And I'll tell you things you already know so you can say, "I really identify with you so much". And all the time that you're needing me is just the time that I'm bleeding you! Don't you get it, yet?! I'll come to you like an affliction but I'll leave you like an addiction! You'll never forget me! You wanna know why?!

Cause I'm a Liar!
I'll rip your mind out!
I'll burn your soul!
I'll turn you into me!
Cause I'm a Liar!
A Liar!

Liar!
Liar!
Liar!
Liar!

I don't know why I feel the need to lie and cause you so much pain. Maybe it's something inside. Maybe it's something I can't explain. Cause all I do is mess you up and lie to you.

I'm a Liar!
I am a Liar!

But if you give me just one more chance I swear I will never lie to you again. Because now I see the distructive power of a lie is stronger than the truth. I can't believe I ever hurt you. I swear I'll never lie to you again. Please just give me one more chance. I will never lie to you again! No, I swear! I will never tell a lie. No! HA! HA! HA! HA! Sucker!

I am a Liar!
I like it!
I feel good!

I am a Liar!
I lie!
Oh, I lie!
I lie!
YEAH!

Oh, I'm a Liar,
I lie!
I like it!
I feel good!

I'll lie again and again,
I'll lie again and again,
And I'll keep lying,
I promise!

The Stone

I've been pushing stones away,
Far from these shores,
I pretend that it's all okay,
On the brink of what can't be adored.

We survived well we can change,
So let it fade just let it go,
We pretend so nothing does change,
Flowers never breaking through the stone.

I pretend and pray it all away,
Searching for a place to hide,
But I don't need to pretend memories to fade,
I just wanna feel something real inside.

And we survive well we can change,
So let it fade let it go,
We pretend so nothing does change,
The flowers never breaking through the stone.

I've been pushing stones away,
Far from these shores,
I pretend that it's all okay,
So long I can be adored.

We survived well we can change,
So let it fade just let it go,
We pretend so nothing does change,
Flowers never breaking through the stone.

Postmarked Birmingham

I recognize the writting on the plain-white envelope,
I wondered where she'd wind-up before she called her own,
The answer's in the circle with the word "LOVE" on a stamp,
Postmarked Birmingham.

I'd have bid on California cause her sister's in Bel-Air,
Or I could see Seattle with her Mom and Dad up there,
She never mentioned Alabama so I don't understand,
Postmarked Birmingham.

A two-page letter written on modest stationery dated April 22,
She asked me not to hate her said she's sorry,
But leaving's what she felt she had to do.

So the day she left she made it 200 miles South,
Did she settle there did she mail this note,
On her way out of town?
The chance is there to find her when the only clue I have,
Is postmarked Birmingham.

Everyday down by the mailbox standing on the curb I check,
The upper-righthand corner of every piece of mail I get,
Hoping there's that certain circle with the word "LOVE" on a stamp,
Postmarked Birmingham.
